DEME Blue Energy
DEME Blue Energy is a part of the DEME Group and was created to develop wave and tidal energy projects and to further develop DEME’s offshore wind farm developments. DEME (Dredging, Environmental & Marine Engineering) is a Belgian marine construction group with roots going back almost 170 years. The DEME group provides global solutions for dredging, land reclamation and hydraulic engineering services for the offshore oil, gas and renewable energy sectors and environmental works. Therefore, DEME relies on significant in-house resources including a large specialised fleet, support plant and equipment. Subsidiaries GeoSea and Tideway have a well-respected reputation worldwide for being able to offer global solutions for complex offshore marine projects and are pioneers in the development of offshore wind energy. For the last 20 years, DEME has played, through its specialized operating companies, a pioneering role in the construction of several offshore wind farms, off the Belgian coast (C-Power on the Thornton bank) and in other European countries such as UK (Ormonde and Walney), Germany (Alpha Ventus, Borkum West and Baltic II), Denmark (Samso). Furthermore, DEME has been involved in other projects generating renewable energy from water, such as the SeaGen Tidal Energy Convertor of Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland - utilising one of its heavy lift vessels the Rambiz (co-ownership) - or the Wave Hub Project off the coast of Cornwall.
DEME Blue Energy (DEME and PMV*) offers a complete service package:
- The promotion and development of blue energy projects;
- Participation in special project companies for construction and operation of blue technology facilities (EPCI contracting, including cables and offshore transformer platforms for the transport of the power produced);
- Operation and maintenance of offshore blue energy infrastructure.
